How we check our boat guides
Every model guide, model overview page and manufacturer entry on Hulls is tracked page by page in an internal accuracy record. We check the specification figures, the company history, and whether the people, companies and awards we name exist and are correctly credited.
We take figures from the builder’s own specifications wherever we can, including archived builder pages for older boats. Dealer material is labelled as such; independent tests come after. When credible sources disagree, we attribute each figure or leave it out. A claim we can’t source is removed, not replaced with a guess. Ownership histories are given as dated chains.
Market figures we publish, such as how asking prices change with age, come from our own dataset of advertised asking prices. They are dated to their snapshot, and we don’t show one based on fewer than 20 boats.
Not every fact has two independent sources. Many rest on one, usually the builder, and some checks used only directly fetched pages without wider searching. We record which.
As of October 2026 our record covers 299 pages. 211 have passed a source check on every area that applies to them. 56 had a lighter review in our latest round, checking consistency but not re-checking sources. The other 32 are shorter model overview pages: every number and superlative on them has been sourced or removed, but they haven’t had a full check yet. Full checks of those 88 pages are due by the end of January 2027.
Each correction is logged against its page. If you spot something wrong, contact us and we’ll check it against the source.
