About Nautique

Nautique is the competition watersports division of Correct Craft, one of the oldest continuously operating boat manufacturers in the world. Correct Craft was founded in 1925 by Walter C. Meloon in Pine Castle, Florida, and has been building boats for nearly a century. The Ski Nautique, introduced in 1961, was the first fibreglass inboard ski boat and went on to become the most decorated competition ski boat in history, serving as the official towboat for countless world records and professional tournaments.

That pedigree in competition waterskiing is the foundation of everything Nautique builds today. More world records have been set behind Nautique boats than any other brand — a claim backed by decades of official tournament results. When professional skiers, wakeboarders, and wakesurfers need a boat that produces a perfect, repeatable wake, Nautique is the default choice.

Correct Craft remains privately held, which is increasingly unusual among major boat brands. This private ownership allows the company to invest in long-term product development without the quarterly earnings pressure that affects publicly traded competitors. The parent company has also diversified through acquisitions, adding brands such as Supreme, Centurion, and Bass Cat to its portfolio, though Nautique remains the flagship.

The current Nautique range is split between two platforms. The Super Air Nautique (G series) is the brand's wakeboard and wakesurf boat, with models from 21 to 25 feet. The G23 is considered by many riders to be the finest wakeboard and wakesurf boat available — its Nautique Surf System (NSS) produces shaped, surfable wakes that can be adjusted for height, length, and steepness from the helm or via a smartphone app. The Ski Nautique remains the brand's competition ski boat, producing the clean, minimal wake that slalom skiers demand.

All Nautique boats are built in Orlando, Florida, where Correct Craft has maintained its manufacturing base for nearly a century. The boats use inboard direct-drive and V-drive propulsion exclusively — the standard for competition watersports, as inboard engines produce cleaner wakes than outboard or sterndrive alternatives.

The typical Nautique buyer is a passionate watersports enthusiast — a family that organises weekends around time on the water, with serious riders who value wake quality above all else. Nautique competes directly with MasterCraft and Malibu in the premium watersports segment. All three command significant price premiums over recreational sport boats, reflecting the specialised engineering that goes into producing competition-grade wakes.

Frequently Asked Questions About Nautique

Where are Nautique boats built?

Nautique boats are built in Orlando, Florida, where parent company Correct Craft has maintained its manufacturing base since 1925. Correct Craft is one of the oldest continuously operating boat manufacturers in the world and remains privately held. The Orlando facility produces all Nautique watersports boat models.

What is the difference between a Ski Nautique and a Super Air Nautique?

The Ski Nautique is a competition slalom ski boat designed to produce a minimal, flat wake for professional waterskiing. The Super Air Nautique (G series) is designed for wakeboarding and wakesurfing, with ballast systems and wake-shaping technology (NSS) that produce large, shaped wakes. Both use inboard propulsion for clean wake performance.

How does Nautique compare to MasterCraft?

Both are premium American watersports boat builders with deep competition heritage. Nautique has a stronger pedigree in competition waterskiing, with more world records set behind its boats than any other brand. MasterCraft has a strong following in wakeboarding and wakesurfing. Both offer advanced wake-shaping technology, premium construction, and strong resale values.

Is Nautique only for professional water sports?

While Nautique's heritage is in professional competition, the boats are widely used by recreational families who enjoy wakeboarding, wakesurfing, and waterskiing. The Super Air Nautique G series seats 12-17 passengers and includes premium entertainment features. However, Nautique boats are purpose-built for watersports and are not designed for fishing, cruising, or offshore use.
