About Rossinavi
Rossinavi is a family-owned Italian builder of full-custom superyachts, based in Viareggio on the Tuscan coast. The company's roots lie in metalwork rather than yachts. In 1980 the brothers Claudio and Paride Rossi founded a mechanical workshop in Viareggio, and over time it specialised in metal carpentry, supplying turnkey hulls and superstructures to other shipyards. In the 1980s the business, then known as Cantiere Rossi (also recorded as Cantiere Fratelli Rossi), concentrated on nautical and industrial carpentry and repairs; by the 1990s it was also building passenger, inland and ocean-going vessels. Some brokerage histories place the brothers' start in the 1970s; the family itself gives 1980 as the founding year.
For almost three decades the Rossis worked largely as subcontractors to other yards. That changed in 2007, when the Rossinavi brand was created, and in 2008 the yard delivered South, a displacement motor yacht with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure and the first yacht it built entirely itself. Federico Rossi, Claudio's son and today the company's chief operating officer, has linked the decision to go to market under the yard's own name to the financial crisis and a drop in third-party demand. The 70-metre High Power III followed in 2011.
Since then Rossinavi has built a reputation for custom yachts in both steel and aluminium, including fast aluminium motor yachts. A good example is Flying Dagger of 2018, today named Flying Dagger III: a 49.9-metre aluminium yacht with exterior design by Team for Design and interiors by Lazzarini Pickering, powered by three MTU 16V 2000 M96L engines driving waterjets for a top speed of 31 knots. The yard has also worked over many years with the designer Enrico Gobbi of Team for Design, and with outside studios including Pininfarina, with which it presented the 65-metre all-aluminium Super Sport 65 concept in 2019.
The yard's work has been recognised by industry award bodies. The International Superyacht Society named the 49.9-metre Endeavour II (2017) winner of its Power 40m–65m category in 2018, and the 63-metre Utopia IV (2018) won the same category in 2019. At the 2024 World Superyacht Awards, the 65.7-metre Alchemy — since renamed Lasata — was named Motor Yacht of the Year, as well as winning the Displacement Motor Yachts 1,000GT to 1,499GT class. Designed outside by Vitruvius Yachts with interiors by Enrico Gobbi, she was described by Boat International as Rossinavi's largest superyacht with diesel-electric propulsion.
Hybrid propulsion has become a central theme of the yard's recent work. Seawolf X, a 42.8-metre catamaran with exterior design by Fulvio De Simoni and interiors by Meyer Davis, is Rossinavi's first hybrid-electric multihull. She carries 202 custom solar panels covering 156 square metres and is designed to run fully electric on day trips and on up to 80 per cent electric power on transatlantic crossings, and she received a Judges' Commendation at the 2025 World Superyacht Awards. The 50-metre No Stress Two, presented in 2023 as Rossinavi's first hybrid yacht, uses a hybrid system with the emphasis on conventional propulsion, and the 50-metre aluminium displacement yacht Bel¹ was delivered in 2024.
Rossinavi remains in the hands of the founding family. In 2025 Federico Rossi described the shipyard as run jointly by his father Claudio, his sister Claudia and himself, with two main shipyards in Viareggio, production sites in Pisa and an after-sales department in Fort Lauderdale. Rossinavi builds its yachts as custom projects, so on the brokerage market each one is best judged individually, on her design team, construction material and propulsion.
