The Axopar 45 Cross Top: A Complete Guide
The Axopar 45 Cross Top is the version of the Axopar 45 that pairs an open cockpit with a wraparound, negative-angle windscreen and a roof over the helm. Axopar announced it at the Cannes Yachting Festival on 13 September 2023, together with the 45 Sun Top, and describes it as a “reverse” hybrid between the Sun Top and the 45 XC Cross Cabin, taking the best aspects of open and enclosed boating. Axopar calls its boats designed in Finland and manufactured in Poland.
The name needs care, because three quite different boats share the 45 hull. The 45 XC Cross Cabin has a fully enclosed cabin with dual sliding doors; the 45 Sun Top is, in Axopar’s words, a fully open boat; the Cross Top sits between them, sheltering the helm behind wraparound glass while keeping the cockpit open. On paper they are close: Axopar’s current specifications give all three the same 4.11 m beam, 1,390-litre fuel tank and engine options, but the Cross Cabin is heavier at 7,700 kg against 7,300 kg for the Cross Top and Sun Top. Check the configuration, not just “Axopar 45”, when comparing listings.
Hulls.io currently tracks 1 active listing for the Axopar 45 Cross Top. Among them is a 2026 Axopar 45 Cross Top listed in Palma, Spain, which is offered as a 33% fractional ownership share rather than outright.

Figures are from Axopar’s current specification for the 45 Cross Top. They differ in places from the figures published at launch in 2023, which gave a length of 13.90 m and an approximate weight of 6,500 kg excluding engines; Motor Boat & Yachting’s test also quotes 6,500 kg. The current 7,300 kg figure is used here; Axopar’s published figure has changed more than once, and in 2024 its specification gave 7,430 kg. The launch specification also listed 280 litres of fresh water and 120 litres of waste-water capacity. Speed and fuel-consumption figures are Axopar’s own and depend on engines, equipment and load.

Where the Cross Top Fits in the 45 Range
Axopar previewed the 45 range at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2021, when its press release listed five planned versions: Spyder, T-Top, Sun Top, Cross Top and XC Cross Cabin. The first to appear was the 45 XC Cross Cabin, which had its world premiere on 27 April 2022 at Port Calanova in Mallorca. The Cross Top and Sun Top followed at Cannes in September 2023. Axopar’s website now lists three 45s — the XC Cross Cabin, Cross Top and Sun Top — with no Spyder or T-Top.
At the Cross Top’s launch Axopar aimed it at a wide spread of users, from VIP shuttle and superyacht tender captains to owners wanting light protection from the weather. Axopar also builds Cross Top versions of its 25 and 38. Further down the range, the Axopar 37 — a range Axopar says has sold over 3,000 boats — includes the Axopar 37 XC Cross Cabin.
Design and Layout
Helm and cockpit
The wraparound, negative-angle windscreen is the Cross Top’s defining feature. Axopar says it shelters the front row from wind chill and spray and reduces glare and droplet build-up on the glass. Overhead are dual electrically operated canvas roofs, and for poor weather the boat can be fully enclosed with roll-down canopies. Standard equipment at the helm includes a pilot seat and two co-pilot seats with flip-up bolsters, twin 12-inch Simrad displays, a bow thruster and trim tabs, and an intelligent steering module whose leather wheel carries the controls for the audio, trim tabs and bow thruster. Behind the helm seats is a wet bar with a sink and a 65-litre drawer refrigerator, wrapped by an aft-facing sofa, with a foldable hi-lo table between it and the aft bench.
Amidships, raised balcony doors open on both sides of the hull. Axopar placed them there, it says, for usability and safety, to extend the seating where the social activity is centred.
Front cabin
Gullwing doors over the front cabin are standard on the 45 range. Below, the standard specification lists a queen-size bed that flips up to turn the separate sofas into a U-sofa, a sink and wardrobe, and a separate toilet compartment with toilet, shower and sink. When it previewed the range in 2021, Axopar said every 45 would have standing headroom in the front cabin and a standing-height shower and washroom.
Aft deck
The Cross Top comes as standard with an aft sofa on the aft deck. The options are a U-sofa or an aft cabin, which takes the berth count from two to four. A wet bar in the fender box is also on the options list. Because the layout is modular, two boats of the same model year can be very different aft of the cockpit.
Engines and Performance
Axopar developed the 45 for lightweight outboards in a triple-engine set-up, and until model year 2026 the range was powered only by triple engines: Mercury Verado V8 300 hp, or V10 350 hp with the BRABUS Performance Line. Axopar quotes a top speed of 50 knots and 4.1 litres per nautical mile at 25 knots with three 300 hp Mercurys.
In September 2025 Axopar announced a twin-engine option across the 45 range for model year 2026, starting with boats ordered that month. That announcement specified twin Mercury Verado V10 400 hp outboards, a top speed of 45 knots, cruising speeds of 25 to 35 knots and a new aluminium bracket that moves the engines further aft to free up the aft deck. Axopar’s current specification sheet, however, lists the twin option as 2 × 425 hp. As a 2026 boat could carry either a triple or a twin installation, confirm exactly which engines are fitted.
On test
Alex Smith tested a Cross Top on triple 300 hp Mercury V8s at the Cannes Yachting Festival for Motor Boat & Yachting (published June 2024). With three people aboard, a full tank and two sea kayaks on the roof, it still exceeded 48 knots. He found the tracking dead straight whether at speed or creeping along at six knots, progress flat and linear even at the 8 to 14 knots where many planing boats bog down, and the hull’s grip progressive and predictable. He called the helm ergonomics nigh-on perfect and the shelter and visibility behind the screen first rate. His reservations were that the boat has to be well specified to be seen at its best, and that the struts for the lid of the optional starboard wet bar felt a bit rudimentary.
Buying an Axopar 45 Cross Top
The Cross Top was announced in September 2023, so every example is recent and the differences between boats come down mainly to configuration and options. Some are also offered as fractional shares rather than whole boats, which changes what you are buying.
What to check
- That it is a Cross Top (wraparound screen, open cockpit) and not a 45 XC Cross Cabin or Sun Top.
- Which engines are fitted: triple 300 hp or 350 hp, or one of the twin installations offered from model year 2026.
- The aft-deck layout: the standard aft sofa, the U-sofa or the aft cabin.
- Which options are fitted, such as the fender-box wet bar or the BRABUS Line trim.
- Engine hours and the service history of every outboard.
- For a fractional share: what percentage of the boat you own, how usage is allocated between owners, who manages the boat and how costs are shared.
- A sea trial and an independent survey before committing.
Asking prices depend heavily on engines, options and whether a whole boat or a share is offered. The listings on this page show what sellers are asking today. Browse every Axopar for sale.
