The EdgeWater 262CX: A Complete Guide
The 262CX is a 26 ft 5 in dual-console boat built by EdgeWater Power Boats in Edgewater, Florida, and sold as part of the builder’s Crossover Series. EdgeWater describes it as combining the offshore performance and unsinkability of its boats with the seating, storage, amenities and versatility of an offshore boat, on a deep-V hull; the builder’s website files it under dual-console boats. It is powered as standard by twin Yamaha F200 four-stroke outboards. EdgeWater, at 211 Dale Street in Edgewater, has been part of the Swedish Nimbus Group since 2023: Nimbus signed an agreement to buy all of its shares on 8 March 2023 and took possession of them on 31 May 2023.
EdgeWater launched the 262CX at the Miami International Boat Show and the New England Boat Show in February 2017. EdgeWater told Soundings Trade Only at the time that the design was driven by customer feedback and set out to improve on the smaller 248CX. It is still in the builder’s range in 2026, alongside the 248CX, the 280CX and the 310SC.
The name needs care when searching listings. EdgeWater also builds the 262CC, a centre console on the same length and beam, with the same 155-gallon fuel capacity and 500 hp maximum rating. The builder lists the 262CC at 6,500 lb against the 262CX’s 7,200 lb. Check that an advert for a “262” is the CX before comparing it with others.
Hulls.io currently tracks 1 active listing for the EdgeWater 262CX. Among them is a 2026 Edgewater 262CX Crossover listed in Portland, United States.

Design and Layout
Helm and consoles
At launch, Trade Only described a double-wide helm seat, a new ClearView windshield to improve sightlines, a yacht-style dash big enough for a 16-inch Garmin screen, and an integrated hardtop over the helm. EdgeWater’s current standard specification includes a powder-coated fibreglass hardtop with LED spreader lights and an electronics box, a frameless tempered-glass windshield and SeaStar electronic power-assist steering. The starboard console is a walk-in head compartment with an electric freshwater head and storage cabinets, and the standard specification also lists a freshwater sink with a pull-out shower and Corian countertop; the port console is a storage compartment, which can be optioned with a wakeboard rack or a roll-control system for dive tanks.
Bow and cockpit
The bow has lounge seating with armrests, a filler cushion and a table leg, over three insulated fishboxes or coolers with overboard drains. In the cockpit there is a starboard prep station with a freshwater sink, insulated storage and a sliding 50-quart cooler (a grill and refrigerator are optional), a port-side lounger with insulated storage, and a folding stern seat. A 28-gallon transom baitwell, a walk-through transom door, a folding boarding ladder and a starboard dive door are standard, as are a stainless steel electric anchor windlass and a Fusion stereo with four JL Audio speakers.
Construction
Like every EdgeWater hull from 22 feet up, the 262CX is built with the builder’s Single Piece Infusion process. Trade Only described it in 2009 as a closed-mould, vacuum-assisted process that infuses vinylester resin into the grid structure and the hull laminate in one step. EdgeWater lists the boat as all-composite with no wood, with closed-cell foam flotation, a variable-deadrise deep-V hull and a limited lifetime structural hull warranty, and describes its boats as unsinkable.
Engines and Performance
The standard package is a pair of Yamaha F200 four-stroke outboards; twin Yamaha F250s are the builder’s optional upgrade, and the boat is rated for a maximum of 500 hp.
Yamaha tested a 262CX with twin F200s on 22 October 2017, with two people aboard, 163 gallons of fuel and a test weight of 8,449 lb. It recorded a top speed of 48.4 mph (about 42 knots) at 5,850 rpm, burning 39.2 US gallons an hour, and reached 30 mph in 9.11 seconds. At 4,000 rpm it ran at 31.0 mph (about 27 knots) on 14.6 gallons an hour, or 2.12 miles per gallon. EdgeWater reproduces the same speed and fuel table on its 262CX page. Yamaha notes that its bulletins are a guide only: weight, options, conditions and bottom paint all change the result, and we have found no published test with the optional F250s.
How It Compares
The closest comparisons are the 262CX’s sisters in EdgeWater’s own range. All figures below are the builder’s.
EdgeWater 248CX. The smaller crossover the 262CX was designed to improve on: 24 ft 6 in long with an 8 ft 6 in beam, 5,950 lb, 120 gallons of fuel, and a single Yamaha F300 outboard as standard, with a maximum rating of 350 hp.
EdgeWater 280CX. The next size up: 28 ft long with a 9 ft 6 in beam, 9,000 lb, 200 gallons of fuel, twin Yamaha F300s as standard and a 600 hp maximum.
EdgeWater 262CC. The centre-console version of the same size, with the same length, beam, fuel capacity and power rating, a 6,500 lb weight and a larger cockpit area (94 sq ft against 72 sq ft).
Buying an EdgeWater 262CX
The 262CX has been in production since 2017, so the specification of a used boat may differ from today’s brochure, and options make a large difference to what is on board.
What to check
- That the boat is a 262CX and not a 262CC centre console.
- Which engines are fitted: the standard twin Yamaha F200s or the optional twin F250s.
- Engine hours and the service history of both outboards.
- Which options were chosen: hardtop enclosure, prep-station grill and refrigerator, electronics, battery charger.
- The fuel capacity and weight for that build year, given the differences between older and current figures.
- For a used boat, whether the builder’s structural hull warranty transfers, and on what terms.
- A survey and sea trial, including an engine check by a Yamaha-trained technician.
